About 30-40 million years ago, Poland was covered by a shallow sea.
On its northern shore there was a Scandinavian land covered with lush forests. The resin accumulated under the bark of trees and leaked out and hardened into pieces of various sizes. These lumps fell into the sea and were transformed into amber in the marine environment.
If you want to discover amber along Polish beaches, the most promising locations are: the area of the Bay of Gdańsk, the Vistula Spit, and the Hel Peninsula. But the largest known lump weighing 9.75 kg! was found in 1860 near Kamień Pomorski close to Szczecin. Good luck!
